First order

5 October 2026 · Cotiful, Merter Istanbul

What should a Balkan boutique ask before the first wholesale order from Turkey?

Before a first wholesale order from Turkey — whether you call it wholesale women's clothing, veleprodaja odeće, veshje me shumicë or haine en gros — a Balkan boutique should ask Cotiful about the sample, the size run, the fabric and how goods travel. Then start with a short ready collection, not a full private-label programme.

Ask who you are buying from

Start with identity. You should be buying from Cotiful, the women's ready-to-wear wholesale and private label line of Erasko Tekstil, at Mehmet Nesih Özmen Mah. Alaybey Sokak No: 14/1, Güngören-Merter, Istanbul. The phone on the thread should be WhatsApp +90 530 032 28 02. The email should be info@cotiful.com. If a different company name appears on an invoice or a payment request, stop and ask why before you send anything. A first order is the easiest moment to be careful, and the most expensive moment to be casual.

Ask who your contact is after the first hello. A boutique does not want a new stranger for every question. Tell us the city and the country. Tell us if a partner, a freight forwarder or a translator will also read the thread. Cotiful can keep the conversation plain. We need to know who is allowed to approve a colour or a size run so the order is not redesigned by accident.

Ask what the sample is allowed to decide

Ask for a sample of the exact silhouette you intend to sell, not a nearby garment that happens to be in the room. Ask what you should judge: cloth, waist, length, pleat, colour, the way a set works together. Ask which of those will be held for the bulk, and which are still open because you have not chosen them. This is the heart of a first order. The rest is administration around a garment you have actually touched.

Ask how long that sample will take only in the same message as the style, and expect the answer to be for that style, not a universal promise. Cotiful confirms timing per garment. We will not print a number of days on this page, because a trouser already on the rail and a new private label pattern are not the same job. There is a longer explanation in how long a sample takes from a Merter supplier. Read it, then ask us about your photo.

Ask what the price includes, without expecting a public tariff

You should ask the price. You should not expect this article to state one. Ask what that price covers: the garment, the size run you named, the label, the hanger, the bag, the carton. Ask what it does not cover. Ask how a change of fabric or a change of colour changes the conversation. A Balkan shop is hurt by assumptions about packing and labels more often than by the fact that a wholesale price exists.

Ask the smallest cutting Cotiful will make for this style. Again, the number belongs in the WhatsApp thread, tied to the garment, not in a blog. A careful first order is often a short list of styles. Name two. Point at palazzo pants, a grey wide leg, a pleated trouser or a suit set if those are the posts you mean. Vague requests get vague answers. Specific posts get a price you can judge.

Ask about sizes, cloth and colour in words a sales assistant can repeat

Ask for the size run you can actually sell, and ask how those sizes compare with what your customer already buys. Do not assume a number on a Turkish size label matches the number in your city until you have checked the measure that matters to you. Ask the fibre content in plain language and the care you should print or tell. Ask whether the colour in the photograph is the colour in the cloth, and what you should approve in daylight.

If you want a colour that is not on the current rail, say so before you imagine it in the window. Cotiful can talk about colour with you. We cannot promise every shade is sitting folded in a back room. The Instagram @cotiful shows the direction. Your message should say whether you want that direction or a deliberate change. Private label is where a change of label, and sometimes a change of detail, belongs. Ask which path this style is on.

Ask how the goods leave Istanbul, and what you must do at home

Ask who arranges transport, which documents Cotiful can provide, and which documents your own broker must handle. Do not ask us to guess your duty. A first-time importer should have a forwarder or a more experienced partner in the thread before the goods are finished, not after. Ask how the cartons are marked so your shop can find sizes without opening everything on the pavement.

Ask what you should do if the delivery does not match the approved sample. Agree the conversation now: photos, the points you will compare, and who decides the next step. Cotiful wants that agreement. It is how a wholesale house keeps a boutique, and how a boutique keeps its reputation. Write it in the chat so both sides can scroll back to it.

Ask the questions that are really about your customer

Ask yourself, in the same sitting, who the garment is for. A wedding-guest rail and a weekday trouser rail are different Cotiful conversations. A window set and a stack of basics are different. If you cannot describe the woman, you are not ready for the quantity, whatever the quantity turns out to be. Tell us the description. We cut better when we know she walks into a shop in your city, not into an abstract Europe.

Ask whether you are buying the ready collection because you trust our hand, or a private label piece because the shop's name is the product. Both are welcome. Mixing them without noticing is how a first order becomes two orders and a confused rail. Choose. There is a full note on which fits a first import.

Then send the list, and stop collecting questions

A Balkan boutique that asks all of this and never sends a style is not being careful. She is delaying. When the list above is in a single WhatsApp message, with photos, you have done the serious part. Cotiful will answer what can be answered immediately and will tell you what has to wait for the sample. That is a reliable first order.

Copy the questions into a note, attach two posts from @cotiful, and send them to +90 530 032 28 02 or info@cotiful.com. Include your city. Include whether you can visit Merter. Then let the answers be about clothes. The first wholesale order should feel like a decision you could explain to your customer, because she is the person who will wear it.
